About Simon Mono
About this typeface
Info
Designed by Dinamo in collaboration with Actual Source’s JP Haynie, ABC Simon is a contemporary typewriter typeface with sharp terminals and large punctuation. Its main inspiration was ITC American Typewriter, but its proportions and forms have been redrawn for today’s audience; the original’s ball terminals and flaring serifs were removed for instance, in favor of more mechanical touches. ABC Simon’s design explores a tension between modernizing and antiquating: While ITC Typewriter is a proportional typeface, our’s is monospaced. ABC Simon made its first appearance as the body typeface for Actual Source’s Shoplifters 8: New Type Design, and later this year, it’ll be developed into a full family of weights.
"BETA TYPEFACES" EXPLAINED:
The type world spins so fast these days. It makes us want to slow down our own release speed, allowing for our fonts to surface a little more slowly and carefully. To turn down the speed of the publishing carousel, typefaces in our Beta space are available by "request only" prior to their official Retail release, which means if you're interested in using them, just let us know.
